YCL's Information
Young women who are 6th and 7th year level may serve as Youth Camp Leaders. YCL's will be contacted by their wards Camp Director with details about leadership trainings prior to camp.
Their responsibilities should be meaningful and appropriate for their experience, skills, and training. Serving others will help them build leadership skills and strengthen their testimonies. Youth Leaders will receive leadership training prior to camp, provide a positive example for younger girls, serve as role models and hype girls at camp, help include everyone at camp.
YCL's Responsibilities:
- Develop Christ-like leadership.
- Follow the guidelines for conduct and appearance in the Strength of Youth booklet.
- Spiritually prepare yourself prior to camp.
- Attend all YL group meetings, both pre-camp and at camp.
- Set an example and be a role model for the younger campers.
- Express positive support for all camp leaders and the program.
- Develop caring relationships with the Young Women and adult leaders.
- Help the Young Women draw closer to God.
- Help the Young Women appreciate and feel a reverence for nature.
- Help the Young Women become more self-reliant.
- Responsible for the well-being and activities of the Young Women you serve; make sure no one is left out.
- Get to know all the Young Women closely.
- Be sensitive to girls who may feel homesick, left out or restless.
- Talk about positive and uplifting things during the week. Don’t share inappropriate jokes or inappropriate personal stories. Refrain from gossiping or put downs.
- Be a role model: project a positive and FUN attitude
- Attend pre-camp planning meetings.
- Help plan and prepare ward activities at camp.
- Support your ward and stake leaders in carrying out activities.
- Assist younger campers. Help them have an enjoyable camp experience.
- Responsible for spiritual growth of the Young Women at the morning devotional.
- Carry out chore assignments with the Young Women as assigned.
- Help plan ways to incorporate the theme throughout all camp activities.
- Lead and direct morning devotionals.
- Be a role model: project a positive and FUN attitude!
